Q: I am looking for a terminal emulation product that lets me access
our UNIX system from my PC. What do you have available?
A: TinyTERM Plus Edition.
Q: Is there an upgrade path for my older versions of TinyTERM?
A: Yes. Century offers upgrades for both TinyTERM and TERM
for UNIX / Linux. Upgrades pricing is 60% of MSRP. Proof of purchase
for the original product is required.
Q: What does an upgrade include?
A: Upgrades ship as complete products and include a new CD,
license, and key as well as installation instructions.
Q: Can I purchase upgrade protection?
A: Yes. Century offers a maintenance program that provides
free upgrade protection for one year from the date of purchase. The
price is 15% of MSRP and must be purchased at the same time as the
TinyTERM or TERM for UNIX / Linux product.
Q: Are multi-user licenses available for TinyTERM and TERM for
UNIX / Linux?
A: Yes and no. TinyTERM Plus and Thin Client Editions offer
multi-user license options. TinyTERM Plus also offers site license
options. TERM for UNIX / Linux and TinyTERM Web Server Editions,
however, are licensed per server.
Q: Can I purchase technical support?
A: Technical support is FREE for Century's customers. Century

Q: I've lost my CD. How can I get a replacement?
A: Replacement media is available directly from Century at a
cost of $35 for handling. Please contact our sales staff to arrange
a replacement.
Q: Do I need different versions of TinyTERM for different
emulations?
A: No. All the TinyTERM editions accurately recreate all the
popular terminal emulations, including Wyse 60 and 50, SCO ANSI,
AT386, DEC VT320, 220, 100 and 52, and IBM3151, TN5250 and TN3270.
Q: I am evaluating your terminal emulation software and need to
know if and which of your products support file transfers.
A: TinyTERM Plus, Thin Client, and Web Server Editions all
support drag and drop file transfers.
Q: I am also considering another basic terminal emulation product
which costs less. Why should I pay the higher price for TinyTERM?
A: TinyTERM offers more than just basic terminal emulation.
It includes support for file transfers, LPR/LPD printing, SSH-based
security and Samba (SMB) UNIX to Windows file sharing and printing.
Century was also the first in the terminal emulation market and has
been in the industry for 15 years. Century offers a reliable product
with a great reputation, and FREE technical support.
Q: What kind of communication connection do I need to be able to
use TinyTERM?
A: TinyTERM can be used with a TCP/IP, modem or serial
connection. A key feature of TinyTERM is the ability to make host
connections through the Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers.
Q: Does TinyTERM allow my UNIX host to communicate with other
UNIX systems?
A: No. TinyTERM is intended for desktop to UNIX
communications. You need Century's TERM for UNIX / Linux for UNIX to
UNIX communications. Its interactive terminal emulation and file
transfer capabilities allow access from UNIX to other host systems
via network, modem or serial connection.
The key benefits of TERM for UNIX / Linux include:
- TERM's script language which allows redundant tasks to be
automated.
- Support for all the popular terminal emulators.
- File transfer capabilities.
Q: What is the difference between TinyTERM Plus and TinyTERM Thin
Client Editions?
A: TinyTERM Plus Edition is installed on desktop PC's to
provide client-administered access to legacy data and applications
with a web browser or standard Windows interface. TinyTERM Thin
Client Edition is designed specifically for use in thin-client /
server environments. It includes full support for and compatibility
with Citrix MetaFrame and MS Terminal Server for centralized
management and deployment in accessing UNIX and IBM host
information. It also utilizes an intuitive browser-based or standard
Windows user interface.
Q: Is my data protected when I use TinyTERM for terminal
emulations?
A: Yes, TinyTERM's SSH-based 1024 bit encryption delivers,
either locally or remotely, the most secure UNIX and IBM host access
possible. We also offer secure SSHD for SCO and other systems too.
Q: I'm currently using TinyTERM v. 3.3 and would like to upgrade
but I am experiencing problems running it on my Windows98. If I
upgrade will I encounter these same problems?
A: No. The new version of TinyTERM was designed specifically
for Windows98 and 2000.
Q: Our organization needs to share files and printers between
Windows and UNIX. Does TinyTERM provide for this?
A: TinyTERM now includes Samba the leading server-side file
sharing solution for SCO UNIX. It enables your UNIX system to look
and act like a WindowsNT server, allowing your entire organization
to share files and printers between Windows and UNIX systems without
any desktop installation. It also includes NFS (Network File System)
and LPR / LPD for sharing files and printers. |
